CSA Children’s Choirs

Rejoice Choir Members

Singing together provides a way of building musical skills while forming friendships. The Voices-n-Harmony choir is open to all interested singers regardless of singing background or experience until maximum numbers for the group has been reached. Shout for Joy and Rejoice children’s choirs hold auditions each fall and spring, accepting up to 45 members in Shout for Joy and 40 in the Rejoice children’s choir.

Spring Auditions for 2012-2013 Children’s Choirs will be held on the following dates and times.  Further auditions will be held in August.

Rejoice Children’s Choir (grades 3-5)  – Music Center 110

  • Thursday, May 10, 6:30 – 8:15 p.m.

Shout for Joy Children’s Choir (grades 6-8) — Music Center 153

  • Thursday, May 10, 6:00 – 8:15 p.m.
  • Wednesday, May 16, 7:00 – 8:00 p.m.
  • Thursday, May 17, 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.

Rejoice! Children’s Choir

For grades 3-5, directed by Rosemary Rupp

Rejoice director Rosemary Rupp teaches music at West Goshen and Prairie View elementary schools in Goshen. She earned a master’s degree in education from Indiana University – South Bend and a bachelor of arts from Goshen College. Rosemary is also active as a church musician, leading children’s choirs for many years. She is a former director of Shout for Joy, leading the choir from 1977-1982. Rosemary began her association with the CSA in 2006 as Rejoice choir director.

Rehearses weekly on Thursdays from 7-8:15 p.m. in Music Center 110
Cost: $120 tuition, payable in semester installments of $60 each + registration in CSA

Shout for Joy Children’s Choir

for grades 6-8, directed by Sandy Hill

Shout for Joy director Sandy Hill has taught private vocal instruction in the Goshen community since moving here with her family in 1999, and before that at the Wausau (Wisc.) Conservatory of Music. She has performed on Wisconsin Public Radio’s Live from the Elvehjem and has appeared in a variety of musical and operatic roles. She was chosen as an intern to participate in the National Association of Teachers of Singing Internship Program at Penn State University with master teacher Jean Westerman Gregg. Sandy has taught voice with the CSA since 2003 and has directed Shout for Joy since 2008.
