Youth Honors Orchesta

The Youth Honors Orchestra (YHO) has a long tradition of excellence in Elkhart County, launched by the Elkhart County Symphony Association and currently housed at the Goshen College Music Center.  There are two full orchestras, one for grades 7 through 9 (“Concert Orchestra”) and one for grades 9 through 12 (“Symphony Orchestra”).  Rehearsals are held each Saturday afternoon leading up to concerts in January and May. Strings, woodwinds, brass and percussion are encouraged to consider joining this honors orchestra program.

Auditions for the 2011-2012 Concert Orchestra (grades 7-9) will be arranged through local schools or via appointment.  For further information, please contact director Brian Wiebe at (574) 849-7173.

Auditions for the 2011-2012 Symphony Orchestra (grades 9-12) will be held on the following dates in the Goshen College Music Center:

STRINGS: Monday, October 17 and Wednesday, October 19, 4:00 – 6:30 p.m.; Saturday, October 22, 2-4:30 p.m.; Monday through Thursday, October 24-27, 4:00 – 6:00 p.m.

WINDS/BRASS/PERCUSSION: Monday, October 31 and Wednesday, November 2, 4:00 – 6:00 p.m.

TUITION: $50 per participant.  Upon acceptance into CO/SO, registration through ActiveNet is required. Financial aid is available to families in need; please call director Brian Wiebe for more information at (574) 849-7173.
