Music Together® and Head Start

Goshen College Music Center is partnering with the Elkhart and St. Joseph Counties Head Start Consortium to make Music Together® classes part of the weekly routine in several Head Start classrooms in these counties, including Baugo, Concord, Elkhart, Goshen, Middlebury, South Bend and Wanee school districts.

We also have classes in two Early Head Start programs in Goshen and South Bend, in the Merit and Lafayette alternative school programs. In these schools, young mothers and their infants and toddlers take part in our music classes offering mother/child interaction through playful music and movement activities.

Photos from Head Start and Early Head Start classes show us the simple fun in hands-on music-making. In addition to the fun, we also take pleasure in knowing that “Music learning supports all learning”™ and these children are off to a great start, looking down the road towards school!
