Opportunities are still available to secure individual tickets for all concerts in the 2011-2012 Goshen College Performing Arts Series. Individual tickets go on sale Monday, August 8 at the Goshen College Welcome Center.
Music Together Teacher Bios
All teachers have successfully completed the Music Together teacher-training course and are registered to teach in the Music Center’s Elkhart County Music Together® initiative.
Jason Brewer received his BFA from Kendall College of Art and Design (Mich.), BA in education from Goshen College, and is a teacher of art and music for elementary school children. Jason is a long time player of the upright bass and plays regularly in his church’s worship band. He has taught Music Together classes in several Elkhart locations, including Roosevelt K-2 Head Start classrooms, First Presbyterian Church, Monger School, Roosevelt and Tolson Centers.
Jenny Campagna received a BA from Anderson University (Ind.) in elementary education and music. She is an active church musician, has led children’s choirs and taught music classes for preschool children for 11 years. In addition to Music Together licensing, in April 2011, she achieved Music Together’s Level 1 Certification through additional training and hours of teaching. Jenny has taught Music Together classes at the Music Center, Greencroft Goshen, The Lifecenter, and Head Start classrooms in Goshen and Elkhart.
Rachel Hostetler holds a BA degree in English from Goshen College and Master of Arts in Teaching from Oregon State Univ. with early childhood and ESOL endorsements. Rachel is fluent in Spanish and a trained musician (singer). She has assisted in Music Together classes at Chamberlain School, and is leading the bilingual classes offered this year for families on the Head Start waiting list.
Deb Kauffman received a BA in music from Goshen College with Piano Pedagogy emphasis. She has taught private piano and Suzuki violin, and currently directs the Goshen College Music Together program. Deb taught the first Music Together class in Goshen at Chamberlain Elementary School in 2009, and has taught and assisted in various other locations since that time.
Faye Peterson received an Art Education degree from Univ. of Mich., and a Masters in Social Work from Western Michigan Univ. She is an avid choral musician, community volunteer and advocate for young children. Faye has assisted in various Music Together classes, including the Early Head Start classroom at Merit Learning Center, Goshen.
Tracey Weirich graduated from Western Mich. Univ. with a bachelor’s degree in music education, and from Indiana Univ. South Bend with a master’s degree in special education. She has been a public school teacher for children with severe disabilities and has also taught preschool classes. Tracey resides in Elkhart with her family, and is an enthusiastic and passionate advocate for Music Together classes in south central Elkhart.
Joan Wiebe received her BA in voice performance and music education from Bethel College (Kan.), and has served as a preschool director and teacher, and as an elementary school music teacher. Long active in church music and as a community volunteer, Joan serves the Music Together program as an assistant in Head Start classrooms and in other locations as needed.
Phyllis Wulliman received a BA in music education from Goshen College and MA from Ball State Univ. She recently retired from 30 years of school music teaching, which included general music classes for elementary through junior high students, and serving for many years as the area coordinator for Circle the State with Song. An organist and pianist, Phyllis is active in church and community as an accompanist. Phyllis has pioneered the teaching of the Music Center’s Early Head Start classes.
