Marcia Yost, Executive Director

Learning the joy of music at a very young age Marcia Yost continued her study of music throughout her school years performing in bands, choirs and orchestras.  She continued her passion for music by attending the University of Indianapolis where she received an undergraduate degree in Music Education.  Coming back to Elkhart County, Yost began her teaching career in elementary music for the Fairfield School Corporation.  She furthered her music training receiving a Master of Music degree from Western Michigan University.  In 1983, she accepted the position of Choral Director at Goshen High School where she has created a state and nationally recognized choral program. As Music Department Chairperson at Goshen High School, Yost has been instrumental in the growth of one of the finest high school music programs in the State.  Now also serving as Executive Director of the Music Center, Marcia  is excited about working with the talented and dedicated music educators at Goshen College as we dream into the second decade of this wonderful Music Center.  Marcia Yost is a lifelong Goshen resident. She and her daughter Madeline live in Goshen enjoying the many musical opportunities of the area.

Debra Kauffman, Associate Director

Debra KauffmanDeb began teaching Suzuki violin in the GC Strings Preparatory Program in 1982. From 1990-1997, Deb served as the program’s director. She took on the position of music office manager in 2000, and in 2003 accepted the role of Associate Director of the Music Center and CSA Director.

Deb graduated from Goshen College with a bachelor’s degree in music, studying piano pedagogy.

Brian C. Mast, Managing Director

Brian’s interest in music began at age 7 after attending a performance of Fiddler on the Roof. Enthralled by the fiddler, he began taking violin lessons, eventually adding saxophone and bassoon, which he continued through college.  Brian has been involved in a variety of music ensembles including orchestras, wind ensembles, chamber ensembles and choirs, and also has enjoyed involvement with theatrical productions both on stage and in the pit.  Brian holds a BA in Music and Education from Bethel College in North Newton, Kansas, and an MM in orchestral conducting from Western Michi­gan University in Kalamazoo, MI.  In addition to his duties as Managing Director of the Goshen College Music Center, Brian enjoys his community involvement as the Music Director of the Maple City Chamber Orchestra and work with Elkhart Civic Theater.  Previous to beginning work at Goshen College in 2004, Brian served as director of instrumental music at Bethany Christian Schools for 7 years.  Brian lives in Goshen with his wife Cheryl, their daughter Mackenzie, and sons Tristan and Tobias.

Grace Swartzendruber, Performance Venue Production Manager

Grace Swartzendruber hails from Antioch, Illinois and graduated from Goshen College in 2009 with a degree in theater and a minor in social policy. While at Goshen, she was actively involved in both the music and theater departments. Since graduating, Grace has worked for a number of local non-profit agencies including the Elkhart County Women’s Shelter, Mennonite Mission Network, ADEC and MDC Goldenrod. In addition to her current role as production manager for the music center, Grace runs her own catering and event planning business, Plates By Grace. Most recently, Grace produced and stage managed GoShakes’ inagural production of Romeo and Juliet. She is also the director for the annual Project Promise Easter Play, a passion play starring adults with disabilities from local Amish and Mennonite communities. Grace resides in Goshen with her husband Nathan and dog Zeke.

Dustin T. George-Miller, Office Coordinator

Dustin George-Miller has worked for the Goshen College Music Center since 2004. At GC, he manages the Music Center office suite, produces event publicity and concert programs, works with intellectual property issues, coordinates Music Department scholarship auditions, and manages the Sauder Concert Hall Box Office, among many other duties. Dustin served as Publicity Director and Concert Coordinator for the University of Notre Dame Department of Music from 2001-2004.  He is a 1998 Goshen College alumnus with a BA in Music and Music Education, and also completed coursework for a graduate degree in musicology at the University of Notre Dame.  An unabashed foodie, his hobbies include cooking, baking bread, and home coffee roasting. Dustin lives in Goshen with his wife Rachel, and children Norah and Levi.
