The hall design was inspired by the great concert halls of Europe. Vance George, director of the San Francisco Symphony Chorus, described Sauder Concert Hall as “one of the great halls of the world. It has incredibly warm and true acoustics.”

Sauder Concert Hall Audio Equipment Specifications

The stage is elliptical, with a width of 65 feet, a maximum depth of 32 feet and a backstage maple acoustical wood wall 12 feet high. Distance from front of house to the front of the stage is 54′. The venue has a 100 seat choral terrace – above and behind the back stage wall, 9 feet above the stage floor. These tickets are often sold at a reduced rate.

The loudspeaker system is configured to operate with stereo Left/Right and Center mix capabilities. Full venue coverage is accomplished via the front fills and upper & lower box fills which are routed as post fader sends from the Left/Right and Center sends. The center-flown subwoofers, choral terrace speaker, and monitor sends are all independently controlled.

The following outlines the details of the system:

Mains:

  • The Left/Right Arrays provide primary stereo coverage to the Orchestra floor and the Balcony and consist of (10) d&b audiotechnik Yi8 loudspeakers per side.
  • The Center Array provides primary mono coverage to the Orchestra floor and the Balcony and consists of (3) d&b audiotechnik ALi90 loudspeakers.

Subwoofers:

  • The subwoofers are flown on center and provide uniform sub frequency distribution and consist of (3) horizontally arrayed d&b audiotechnik Vi-SUB subwoofers.

Fill Loudspeakers:

  • Front Fills – (8) d&b audiotechnik E6 loudspeakers are distributed along the stage edge and provide coverage to the first two rows of audience seating.
  • Lower Box Fills – (2) d&b audiotechnik E8 loudspeakers, one mounted on each side of the room, provide coverage to the first few seats of the Lower Box seating sections.
  • Upper Box Fills – (2) d&b audiotechnik Yi7P loudspeakers, one mounted on each side of the room, provide coverage to the first few seats of the Upper Box seating sections.
  • Choral Terrace Fill – (1) d&b audiotechnik Yi7P loudspeaker mounted behind the Center Array provides coverage to the Choral Terrace seating area.

Stage Monitor Loudspeakers:

  • (8) EAW SM200iH stage monitor loudspeakers
  • (4) Channels of amplification providing up to (4) mixes controlled from the Front of House console.
