This spring, the ECoSistema music and youth development program will present two concerts in the Goshen community, both free and open to the public.

On Thursday, April 2 at 7:00 pm, the ECoSistema Spring Concert will take place at the Goshen Theater, located at 216 S. Main Street in downtown Goshen. This concert will feature over 100 students in grades 2-12 who participate in ECoSistema at the Boys & Girls Club of Goshen. Featured ensembles at this concert include Song Circle, a music and movement class for 2nd graders based on the Orff method, directed by Kent Dutchersmith; the ECo Sings choir for grades 3-5, directed by Katy Thornthwaite; and three different levels of string orchestra (beginning, intermediate, and advanced) for grades 3-8, directed by Hillary Harder and Kent Dutchersmith. ECoSistema’s high school interns will also play an important role in this concert as they mentor and play side-by-side with the young musicians.

On Tuesday, May 12 at 7:00 pm, the ECo Sings Choir and Allegria Orchestra will perform side-by-side with the Evergreen Singers at the Greencroft Community Center. This fun, intergenerational collaboration will feature each ensemble performing their own selections as well as several pieces as a combined group. The Evergreen Singers is made up of residents in the Greencroft retirement community. They are conducted by Diane Hertzler.
